About

Gemma is owner of All About the Dog Academy Ltd and the founder and principal of the Dynamic Dog Practitioner Programme.

Gemma holds a ISCP Canine Behaviour Practitioner (ISCP Dip.Canine.Prac), Canine Myofunction & Rehabilitation Therapist (OCN London Dip.CMRT) and has obtained certificates in a wide variety of holistic techniques.

She has had a passion for animals all her life and was lucky enough to grow up with 5 cats, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, 12 dogs (working & show) and more recently 2 horses and a very bouncy English Bulldog. Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s she was witness to some harsh training methods in both the canine and equine world and was determined to make a change.

Gemma studied horses for 3 years at Hartpury College working in dressage, eventing and show jumping yards around the country including several hydrotherapy units. It was during her ownership of her first horse Po in the early 00's, a 16hh Dutch Warmblood mare that she became aware of how pain could influence an animals behaviour, when Po was diagnosed with EGU’s. Gemma looked for a way to help her horse overcome the pretty extreme and often dangerous behaviour she had been left with. Within 3 months of help from a specialist vet and a TTEAM TTouch Practitioner she had her happy horse back – and was hooked!

Along comes Ron...

Unfortunately due to health reasons Gemma had to give up her horses and looked for a dog to fill the void. Along came Ron, an English Bulldog, and off they went to positive reward dog training classes where they excelled through Puppy Class, Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards before learning a plethora of useful skills on the helpful hounds course.

For Gemma there was still something missing, and in 2015 she booked onto her first TTouch clinic at Tilley Farm nr Bath, to start her journey to become a TTouch Practitioner. 2 ½ years and 6 clinics later in 2017 she finally qualified as a P1. TTouch recognises the link between posture and how this affects an animal’s behaviour; this sparked Gemma's interest in canine anatomy and physiology, and wanted to learn more about the canine body and how their musculoskeletal system works. In 2018 she qualified with distinction on a level 4 diploma in Canine Massage & Rehabilitation through the OCN London.

In 2019 Gemma graduated from the International School of Canine Psychology and Behaviour (ISCP) at degree level as a Canine Behaviour Practitioner and completed the next level in her TTouch Training to become a P2.

Fusing what she learnt

Gemma now uses what she has learnt to educate other canine professionals such as trainers and behaviourists in spotting the potential signs of pain and discomfort in their clients dogs. This is something Gemma is extremely passionate about and has developed the techniques and processes in assessing dogs that she has learned over 30 years and successfully turned them into her own practitioner course! The very first of it's kind in the UK!

The first few courses SOLD OUT without advertising, showing a real need for this information within the industry.

2021 saw the continuation of online events and learning. Gemma has been fortunate enough to speak for Fling-less Feb about the affects of ball throwing to both the body and mind of dogs, plus presenting for CAM (Canine Arthritis Management) & Behaviour Vets on the work she does and has taught along side Chirag Patel (world renowned animal behaviourist). 2024 saw the start of Dynamic Dog seminars, with the first being presented to the IBH in Germany!

Continual Professional Development

Gemma always takes every opportunity to update her knowledge and skills to ensure her students learn the very latest techniques and science based knowledge. Wether they are in person events such as Chirag's WOOF! or (thanks to covid) online events such as the APBC Online Veterinary Conference 2021.

She continues her studies to become a Veterinary Physiotherapist and hopes to graduate within the next year
